Intensive training, then your dog sleeps in their own bed.
When most people hear "board and train," they picture their dog living somewhere for a month and coming back transformed. That model has a real problem: dogs trained in one environment don't always bring those skills home with them. Generalization — the ability to perform a behavior anywhere, with anyone — is one of the hardest things to build, and a four-week residential program often skips it entirely.
Sonoran Canine Co. does it differently.
Our Board + Train is a daycare-based immersive program. Your dog comes to us for full training days, then goes home to you each evening. You stay involved in the process. The skills build in context. The dog doesn't have to "re-learn" their home because they never left it.
What to Expect
Your dog spends structured training days with us — not kenneled, not daycare in the traditional sense, but actively working. Sessions are interspersed with rest, enrichment, and real-world exposure appropriate to your dog's program. At the end of each day, you get a brief update and your dog comes home.
At the close of the program, we do a dedicated handler transfer session — because the goal was never a trained dog. It was a trained team. You'll leave knowing exactly how to maintain and build on everything your dog learned.
Board + Train clients also get 6 months of priority access to text, voice and video support; plus discounts on folow-on training sessions, packages, and events.
Programs
Puppy Daycare Board + Train · $4,200
Four weeks of intensive foundation work for puppies during the developmental window that matters most. We cover engagement, impulse control, basic obedience, socialization protocols, and handler skills — all before bad habits have a chance to take root. This is the fastest path to a confident, well-founded puppy. Spots are extremely limited.
Adult Daycare Board + Train · $3,800
Four weeks of focused, intensive work on the behaviors that are actually making your life difficult. We identify what's driving them (it's almost never what you think), build new behavioral patterns, and send your dog home with the foundation in place to keep it going. Spots are extremely limited.
PSD Puppy Daycare Board + Train · $6,500
A specialized four-week intensive for puppies being evaluated and developed as psychiatric service dog candidates. Candidacy is assessed throughout the program — we're not just training behaviors, we're evaluating whether this dog has the constitutional temperament for sustained public access work. This program begins with a thorough intake and candidacy screening call. Not every dog is a fit, and we'll tell you honestly if they're not.
We offer scholarships, rescue discounts, and payment installments - just ask when setting up your board + train.
Pickup + Drop-off
Can't do the daily drive? We offer pickup and dropoff service within approximately 30 miles of Alexandria, VA for an additional $50 per day. Reach out before joining the waitlist to confirm your address is within range.
